Design and Installation
Bad Decisions Aquatics designs and installs custom aquariums in the Maryland, D.C., Delaware and Washington D.C. area. We do travel to New Orleans and North Carolina areas upon request. Our passion and dedication to our tanks, will be displayed with the tank we build for you. Let us help you avoid the mistakes or confusion with setup and buildout so you can just sit back and enjoy the beauty of the tank!
Consultation

Before we can plan the buildout, let's look at what you want, where you want it and what the budget looks like in hopes of helping you buildout the perfect tank! The deposit books the hour, and the money will be applied should you decide to move forward. The money is donated to the schools and camps we take care of.
Design & Install

This service will include the buildout setup and install. The price that is determined after the consultation will include all materials to have your system up and running. The price is determined by the size of the tank, whether that is freshwater or saltwater.
Install Only

This service is for the install of your aquarium. All needed items to setup the tank will be at the location, and you just need to book the hours for someone to set it up.
Tank Setups for Schools or Camps
We founded this company because of our own kids, who were always in awe of the fish in our tanks, or setting up new tanks. When they had friends over, the kids wanted to sleep in the part of the house where we had a tank setup! If you have been to our home, almost every room has a tank including the kitchen! So, I have a special place when building tanks for schools or camps. Enrichment programs that involve anything related to aquatics will have me drop everything to get setup as I am teaching
Nano Tank Freshwater

This is for a setup a nano tank for freshwater fish. The price is determined by what tank is selected as well as the other items for the tank you choose. The price will include all of the items you need to have your nano tank up and running.
20 to 40 Gallon Tanks

This is for a freshwater setup between 20 to 40 gallons. This will include everything you need in order to have the tank up and running.
Saltwater Tanks

This service is for the setup of your saltwater tank which can range from nano to 100+ gallons. The price will be determined after the selection of the tank size. The price includes everything you will need to get the tank up and running.
Maintenance
Outside of getting the tank setup and running, we can't skip maintenance especially if you have a saltwater tank. My planted tank setups require little maintenance, but not every custom build will allow plants or other items to the tank to cutdown on the maintenance. Let's work together to figure out the maintenance you need and the schedule.
Weekly Maintenance

The price will be determined by the size of the tank, the estimated time to clean the tank and what is involved with the maintenance. Weekly maintenance is typically for saltwater tanks as changes in parameters and salinity could be detrimental to your tank.
Bi-Weekly

Cleaning
Aquarium cleaning doesn't take forever, if you have the right tools to make it quick and flawless. I enjoy setting up tanks, but also enjoy keeping the tanks clean. My focus is building out tanks that will require little cleaning, having the right plants or cleaning crew in the tank to help minimize this for you. Cleaning doesn't have to be weekly, but should be quick!

Breeding
We all have gone to the store to get some of our fish, but how exciting to own fish that are bred, cared for and even handfed! This is about getting a fish or invertebrates that comes with a story or details on their personality and things they like to eat! You just can't get that from a pet store as shipments are often coming in before connections are made.
Neocaridina "Ghost" Shrimp

We have a lot of different type of neocaridina shrimp that we breed. Our inventory changes weekly based on who is pregnant and what we classify as healthy to sell. We sell our shrimps when they are at least 3 weeks old, to ensure they are healthy. We try to include a female and male to help you populate.
Endler Guppies

Mystery Snails

One of the most active snails you will find yourself watching often! In our breeder tank, you can catch them with ghost shrimp on their backs! These will not produce eggs in your tank when purchased by themselves.

In our own tanks, we prefer to feed our fish live or frozen food as often as we can to mimic their environment, however we sell everything for everyone's needs.
